I know it sounds corny yet I am getting hooked on sea fishing, especially sea angling trips out on a boat. The turn around for me personally has been three trips in the last month on a boat out from Scrabster – Stormdrift II operates out of Scrabster and the skipper Davey takes you to a number of fishing areas in the Pentland Firth, off Dunnet Head and around Scrabster and Dunnet Head bay.
Of course the main thing that has got me hooked on sea fishing is that I am actually catching fish, not monster fish that is possible from Scrabster yet fish in the 5-6Ib range for Cod and Ling.

My best specimen fish so far is a Cuckoo Wrasse of 2.6Ibs. I don't go fishing deliberately for specimen fish – I fish as I love the open sea, being on a boat and catching fish for the pot.

I also love books and have recently purchased the River Cottage Fish book, and it is simply brilliant, the best book on fish and cooking fish I have come across – and I have a fair number of books on cooking and fishing!
